Christmas is coming, but not all local families are able to make the season bright for their kids. Desert Sun Counselling and Resource will once again be running its annual Share the Spirit program, which provides gift hampers to families in need. Last year, the program supported more than 70 local families and a total of more than 150 children, each referred by a community service agency or school.
Are you able to help? Share the Spirit is currently looking for ‘Christmas Angels’ to support the gift hamper program. Your help would be ENORMOUSLY appreciated in any of three ways:
- ‘Adopt’ a family: we’ll provide you with a wish list from a family in need, you choose and wrap gifts for that family, then drop the items to the Community Centre on December 9th for delivery on December 11th. Adopters can be businesses, office co-workers, families, classmates: or anyone with a big heart who is looking to make Christmas brighter for vulnerable local kids.
- Donate $ or gift cards.
- Donate gift items of any kind (new only, please): art supplies, warm socks/gloves, toys for any age, Xmas cookies/treats, personal hygiene supplies, etc.
Do you need help this Christmas? If Christmas looks difficult for your family this year, Share the Spirit can help. For more information, contact Share the Spirit Coordinator, Maureen Doerr, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All donations are SUPER appreciated. We’re expecting to provide hampers to a whopping 75+ families in need this year, so every item will definitely be put to great use in our hampers. While treats and art supplies are always, always useful for hampers, please feel free to donate whatever you feel moved to donate. Toys for any age, gift cards, or any new giftable items are wonderful. Hamper packing weekend is Dec 15-17, so please drop donations to either DS office by Wednesday, Dec 13.Many thanks!
